.92 Monogram

The .92 monogram isn’t just a mark—it’s a fusion of function, form, and memory. At its core, the design was driven by a practical challenge: to create a single continuous path that could be efficiently engraved by a CNC machine, with stroke width defined by the drill bit or depth of cut. But beyond the technical constraints, it carries something more personal. The monogram isn’t just shaped by geometry—it’s shaped by my number: 92.
Like the pho shop names that quietly honor a journey of migration and resilience, this design is my own tribute. Though built on golden ratios and precise alignments, its meaning is rooted in memory—1992, the year my family began again. SIDEQUEST.92 carries that legacy forward: design as identity, geometry as story, and every mark a reminder that beauty and belonging can be engineered with purpose and soul.
Fresh off the visual language of Chaos to Creation, I was inspired to continue exploring the Fibonacci sequence. I began by laying out the classic Fibonacci squares, building a spiral of golden proportions. From the center of each square, I drew circles, playing with both origin and radius—some tied to the center point, others to the length of the square’s sides.
After many iterations, I landed on the final geometry of the .92 mark. Here’s where it gets interesting: the largest circle also defines an equilateral triangle, which unexpectedly shaped the entire structure. The triangle not only determines the height of the monogram (by referencing the largest square) but also reveals a hidden circle—the tangent off this new circle is also found at the top of square.
With this triangle as a guide, 60-degree angles naturally emerged, establishing a rhythm in the monogram’s flow—from one digit to the next. The result is a design that’s mathematical, intentional, and aesthetically rich—an emblem where every curve and angle tells a story of order, sequence, and precision.
What began as a personal number—etched with memory and migration—became a design challenge of precision and play. Through Fibonacci spirals, geometric alignments, and CNC constraints, the .92 monogram emerged not just as a symbol, but as a story in motion. Every angle honors the past, every curve looks forward. This isn’t just design—it’s devotion, discipline, and a quiet continuation of a legacy begun in 1992.
